ELISA MURPHY

Elisa Murphy brings more than 30 years of experience to Dekalb County.  Elisa Murphy was the first Black female to become Judge in Hamilton County Municipal Court, District 1.  Elisa Murphy previously served as a Magistrate for the Hamilton County, Ohio, Common Pleas Court, Juvenile Division and Franklin County, Ohio Common Pleas Court Domestic Relations and Juvenile Branch. She served on the bench for 17 years. Elisa Murphy serves as an Adjunct Professor teaching Business Ethics at Indiana Wesleyan University. 

Elisa Murphy worked at Hamilton County, Ohio, Public Defender’s Office and in private practice, focusing on criminal law, family law, and civil law. Elisa Murphy has been an attorney for 29+ years. She is licensed to practice in the States of Georgia and Ohio.

Elisa Murphy worked while in college and she received a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and Juris Doctor, a law degree from the University of Akron School of Law.

Last, but not least, Elisa Murphy is a proud mother of two successful adult children.
